Our Governors

Our Governors
The Governing Body at Newton Longville Church of England Primary School is made up of volunteers from our local community, including parents/carers, the local church, school staff and our Local Education Authority. All hold a common interest in providing an outstanding education for our children. As with any volunteer organisation we would always welcome additional volunteers who can bring new skills and new perspective to the school, please do get in touch at chair@newtonlongville.bucks.sch.uk if that is you!
More information about who we are and how we are organised can be found below.
Governor Profiles
Alex Titley (Chair of Governors) chair@newtonlongville.bucks.sch.uk
Having moved back to Newton Longville I wanted to become part of the village community and became a Foundation Governor (and a Beaver Scout Leader) to help strengthen the link between St Faiths Church and the school. Although having studied Chemistry at University my working background has been in Education; firstly, adult education supporting families then in the opposite direction into Early Years. My passion lies in providing a broad, engaging curriculum and opportunities for all children to find their own passion in learning. Although my youngest left Newton Longville a while ago and off to University, I am still committed to improving opportunities and raising standards in our village school.
Rev. Linda Church
I moved to Newton Longville at the end of 2023 to take up a House for Duty post as Associate Minister. As part of my role, I became a Foundation Governor for our school. I have served as a Governor in both primary and secondary education for over 30 years in different Dioceses and Counties. My granddaughter attends our school, and it has been a privilege for me to be part of her learning journey. I am committed to each child having the best learning experience in our village school.
Cliona Devereux
Having been brought up in the village, I returned in 2013 to be nearer to my parents who still live here. I have been a teacher for all of my working life at secondary schools both locally and in north London. More recently I headed a local authority provision for pupils unable to attend school due to illness. Championing the educational needs of children often out of sight and easily overlooked, many of whom had mental health problems was incredibly rewarding. Five years ago I stopped work and have been more focused on family and other projects such as converting our dilapidated stables.
I am married to Paul and we have 3 teenage boys. The boys used to belong to the village Scout group but now are involved with the Explorer Scout units in Milton Keynes, they enjoy village events and various musical activities. Being a governor is an ideal opportunity to contribute more to village life and make use of my background to better opportunities for all village children.
Emma Everitt
I became a Governor at Newton Longville in 2015 having moved to the village in 2013. All three of my children have attended the school, with the youngest still being here.
My passion as a governor is driven by wanting each and every child to be celebrated for their achievements, both academic and non-academic, and encouraged to find their passion and to get curious with their learning. When they leave us to progress to secondary, I want them to do so as the very best version of themselves, comfortable and confident in their own abilities.
My career has taken me across the corporate and charity world, mainly in commercial and business strategy, and includes stints in publishing, high-stakes assessment, assessment-reform, offending learning and health advocacy.
Gilly Hunter
I have lived in the village since 1987 and been involved in village activities over the years, mainly with the Twinning Association and St Faith’s Church, where I worship regularly and sing in the choir. I run my own Accountancy practice in the village.
I became a Foundation Governor in September 2024. I want to help strengthen the links between our school and St Faith’s as I feel this is important to the children’s learning. I also want to use my knowledge through my work as an Accountant in whatever way I can.
Above all I am passionate about our village and the part the school plays in it, wanting to enable the children to develop and have the best possible opportunities for their future learning.
Vicky Macleod
I have been a Parent Governor at Newton Longville Church of England School since 2022.
I have lived in the village for several years and have a strong connection to the school community. I currently have one child attending the school, and my eldest child attended the school before leaving Year 6 last year, which has given me a real appreciation of the opportunities and support the school provides to its pupils and families.
In my professional role within policing, I work in safeguarding children in a leadership and management capacity. I work closely with partner agencies to help ensure children are safe, protected, and able to thrive in secure learning environments. A key part of my work focuses on ensuring the voice of the child is heard and considered in decision-making, something I am equally passionate about in my role as a governor. I bring this experience to support the school’s strong safeguarding culture, its focus on pupil wellbeing, and its commitment to providing a safe environment where children feel listened to and valued.
I value the opportunity to work collaboratively with staff, fellow governors, and parents to support the ongoing development of the school and its role within the local community. I am particularly passionate about ensuring children feel safe, supported, and heard so they can achieve their full potential.
Richard Robinson
My son started attending the school in spring of 1975 and in the following October the new head introduced The Friends of School, and I was appointed treasurer. A post I held for 7 years. I assisted the school at the time by building a portable stage and arranging the mounting of lights for school productions.
When both my children left the school, my involvement came to an end until I was asked to come an assist with productions in 2001. Since then, I have been helping with the Christmas and end of term shows. I have been very keen in passing on my skills to the pupils allowing them to operate sound mixers, lighting desk, and cameras. This has enabled FOS to sell copies of production recordings.
For the past 6 years I have been involved with an after-school film club, initially with Mr Williams. After he left, I continued to run the club.
After University I moved to acoustic research before joining Westminster University as head of studio Technology. I left to join local commercial radio in this region. I was responsible for the development of technology design and management. The building of studio premiss for a group with 8 sites and national news services and satellite distribution.
In 1996 I set up my own broadcast consultancy and have engineered several projects for overseas radio and tv stations as well as government contracts with FCO and MOD.
I was appointed a Foundation governor in 2023.
The experience with contracts and premiss I bring to school as I am H&S Governor and a member of the finance committee
I have lived in the village for 53 years and have been involved with scouts, drama society, both churches and other village events and I have a strong belief that an active school is at the heart of village life.
Benedicte Titley
I have lived in the village for the last 30 years; my children have gone to Newton Longville school; now my grandchildren attend. I am Christian and believe in the village as the centre of a community. I have an interest in education, having been a teacher, I also worked in business, I have an appreciation of budget setting, and the much wider role of the school. I love reading, knitting and gardening and I am persuaded that each child has a unique gift in which s/he can excel, and that as adults, we have a duty to help them be their best selves. This is why I am a governor.
