Music Intent

Rooted in Vision and Values 

At Newton Longville CE Primary School, our music curriculum is shaped by our Christian vision: 
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart.” (Colossians 3:23) 

This vision inspires our pupils to approach their learning in music with perseverance, curiosity and experience joy. We believe that every child can succeed in music through effort, inspiration and high-quality teaching. Our music curriculum is designed to foster a love of music, build confidence as a musician and singer, develop skills and a deeper understanding of musical genres, preparing pupils to move forward in life with a love for music. The curriculum ensures the children sing, listen, play, compose, perform and evaluate music across a wide variety of historical periods, styles, traditions, and genres. All children have access to music regardless of their academic ability, race, ethnicity, background and language. SEND pupils are actively encouraged to participate fully.
